Epping Plaza Water Conservation
As part of our ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability, Epping Plaza has recently undertaken the following measures to promote water conservation within the centre:
- Installation of 240,000 litre rainwater catchment tank for use in irrigation systems & centre restrooms as part of Stage 3 development.
- Fitting flow-restricting devices on restroom tapware.
- Installation of automatic time-controlled tapware in restrooms.
- Landscaping in Stage 3 using drought-resistant species.
- Displaying water-saving information in centre restrooms.
- Distribution of shower timers to shoppers during Christmas shopping events.
- Participation in Department of Sustainability & Environment’s Stormwater & Urban Water Conservation Project.
Centre retailers have also been encouraged to embrace the “Every Drop Counts” message by:
- Reporting tap, toilet & hose reel leaks to Centre Management.
- Turning off taps when not in use.
- Implement water-saving processes (ie: only run dishwashers on full load).
- Encourage staff to submit water saving ideas.
